I think Chris Terrio wrote a terrific script. Zack’s a great visual director. And there’s an interesting take. I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t think I could do it. I have the benefit of a lot of that understanding.” The Oscar-winner also shed some light on portraying the iconic character and getting in shape for the role, saying, “I’m right in the middle of shooting now. It’s a process that I’ll probably have better perspective on when I’m done. http://www.flicksandbits.com/2014/08/14/ben-affleck-talks-about-playing-batmanbruce-wayne-in-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-i-wouldnt-have-done-it-if-i-didnt-think-i-could/74854/

Random Acts Of Kindness In Ferguson

What we are witnessing before our eyes in Iraq is the uprooting not simply of a religious minority - in this case the Yazidis, whose very existence is being threatened - but of an entire civilization. The victimization and extermination of women and children, as well as of the elderly and disabled, for any reason whatsoever - much more so in the supposed name of religious conviction - is a repudiation of our own future. Such calamity and cruelty of adherents to one religion can never be defended by cowardly and falsely invoking another religion. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ecumenical-patriarch-bartholomew/we-will-not-be-silent-on-_b_5678752.html

NFL's Rookie Head Coaches Bring Hope, But Face Uphill Battle Toward Success

Rookie Teddy Bridgewater would likely benefit from OC Norv Turner, who has long been considered an offensive guru, but Zimmer also runs the risk of bringing him along too soon. Either way, we know that Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel are mediocre football players and neither of them is the future of this team. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/14/rookie-head-coaches_n_5610642.html

Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice: Ben Affleck Talks “Interesting Take”

"Before I took the role, Warner Bros. gave me a bunch of past reactions to casting and said, 'Are you sure you want to get into this? This is part and parcel of these movies now. There's a lot of active fans with a lot of opinions.' To me, having been through a certain amount of that, it doesn't really… Everyone's entitled to their opinion,” Affleck said. “I wouldn't have taken the part if I didn't trust my instincts in terms of the filmmaking. http://www.moviefanatic.com/2014/08/batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-ben-affleck-talks-interesting/

Does the Second Amendment Only Apply to White People? Look online and you'll find pictures of white people proudly carrying guns into churches, bars, and grocery stores thanks to the "open carry" laws passed in nearly every state recently. Black people don't have that right. When a white teenager named Steve Lohner was stopped by the police last month and refused to show his ID after carrying a loaded shotgun on the streets of Aurora, Colorado (the same city where a mass murderer killed 12 people and injured 70 others in a packed movie theater in July 2012), the teen walked away with nothing but a citation. But when a 22-year-old black kid named John Crawford picked up a mere BB gun in a Walmart store in Dayton, Ohio last week, customers called the police, who then shot and killed him. Here lies a racial disparity that's difficult for honest people to ignore. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/

The fish farmers on the terraced plains above Taiwan's west coast are riding a China boom, exporting tons of sweet, flaky milkfish to the mainland, thanks to export duties Beijing lowered to win over the island's voters. Salmon that's genetically modified to grow twice as fast as normal could soon show up on your dinner plate — if the company that makes the fish can stay afloat. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/14/dolphins-whales-squeal-delight-video_n_5678621.html
